Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT)

The gold standard treatment for lymphedema, combining five components.

We offer CDT for primary lymphedema, secondary lymphedema, and filariasis. It combines five essential components, each of which plays a part in reducing swelling, preventing complications, and maintaining long-term results.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)
Light, rhythmic hands-on movements stimulate healthy lymphatic pathways and redirect fluid away from swollen areas toward functioning lymph nodes. MLD is always customised to the type and stage of lymphedema.
Compression therapy
Once fluid has been moved, compression prevents it from accumulating again. Multilayer short-stretch bandaging is used during the intensive phase; sleeves, stockings, or custom garments maintain the result afterwards.
Decongestive exercises
Gentle, controlled exercises performed while wearing compression use normal muscle contractions to move lymphatic fluid, improve joint mobility, and increase strength.
Skin care
Swollen skin can become dry, fragile, and prone to infection. We show you how to keep skin clean and moisturised, protect it from injury, and recognise the early signs of cellulitis.
Education and self-management
Practical guidance on wearing and caring for garments, self-drainage techniques, exercise, skin health, weight, travelling safely, and warning signs of worsening swelling.

Compression garment prescription & fitting

Precise measurement and guidance so your garment actually works.

Compression garments are essential to long-term lymphedema management. Once swelling has been reduced through CDT, a properly fitted garment maintains the result by preventing fluid from re-accumulating.

Choosing the right garment is not a one-size-fits-all process. The type, compression class, fabric, style, and fit all depend on your diagnosis, the severity and location of swelling, and your daily activities. An incorrectly fitted garment may be uncomfortable, ineffective, or even worsen symptoms.

We take precise measurements to ensure an optimal fit, guide you in selecting the most appropriate garment, and show you how to wear, remove, care for, and replace it.

Kinesiotaping

Elastic taping that can support drainage and ease mild swelling.

Kinesiology taping is a supportive treatment used as part of a comprehensive lymphedema management programme. Specially designed elastic tape is applied using specific techniques to gently lift the skin, creating more space beneath the surface.

For selected patients this may help facilitate lymphatic drainage, improve comfort, and reduce mild swelling.

Cupping

Controlled suction to soften fibrosis and improve tissue mobility.

Cupping uses controlled suction to gently lift and mobilise the skin and underlying soft tissues, in order to reduce fibrosis in lymphedema.

The aim is to improve tissue mobility, soften fibrotic areas, enhance local circulation, and support lymphatic drainage. It may also help reduce tissue tightness, improve skin flexibility, and increase comfort during movement.

Whole-body vibration

A supervised adjunct that supports circulation and mobility.

Vibration therapy is an emerging treatment used as part of a comprehensive lipedema management programme. It involves standing or performing gentle exercises on a vibration platform, where controlled mechanical vibrations stimulate muscle contractions and improve circulation.

Combined with other conservative treatments, it may help reduce feelings of heaviness, improve mobility, and enhance overall physical function.

Maderotherapy

Wooden-tool massage that encourages circulation and relaxation.

Maderotherapy is a gentle body-contouring and wellness technique that uses specially designed wooden tools to massage the body. It stimulates circulation, encourages lymphatic flow, and promotes relaxation while supporting the body's natural processes.

Benefits

  • Encourages healthy lymphatic circulation
  • Helps reduce temporary fluid retention and heaviness
  • Promotes relaxation
  • Supports healthy blood circulation
  • May improve skin texture and tone
  • Complements body wellness and self-care routines
